It is the first in the Paradors’ chain, inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII in 1928. It has three stars and is located in the Alto del Risquillo, with the Valle del Tormes at its feet, as well as the sierras of Gredos, Piedrahita and Béjar.
From bed you can hear the cowbells of the livestock grazing in the vicinity or the neighing of horses, on which you are able to take a stroll through these lush pine landscapes.
The building is of granite and slate. Some rooms have terraces and there are many spots throughout the building where one can sit quietly and read or contemplate the scenery.
There is also a large games room with billiards, foosball, or ping pong and outside the great forest of tall trees for taking a walk or making a snowman, like my son.
The wooden floors that creak when walked on, remain as they have been for years, just like the Castilian furniture and joinery that are in urgent need of renovation.
The bathrooms are already modernized. Halls with high chimneys, which are still welcoming, even more when it has just snowed outside. On the fifth floor there is a terrace with hammocks, from where contemplating the Sierra de Gredos on a good morning with the clouds literally glued to the pines, is a marvellous spectacle.
This hotel is in the square of the Cathedral of Avila. It's a perfectly preserved palace, where you'll have a wonderful stay. Highly recommended, it has everything, nice, cozy, very friendly staff, well situated, with parking. All this in a beautiful city.
This four star hotel is ideally located next to the cathedral and the walls of the city, declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This is a XIV century palace, originally home of the Bishop of Valderrábanos. It has 73 rooms and large function rooms where you can hold all kinds of events. The hotel restaurant, "El Fogon de Santa Teresa" offers typical regional food. The only small drawback is the old fashioned decor.
The El Rastro is in the beautiful city of Ávila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This rustic hotel has 26 comfortable rooms, 4 single rooms, all equipped with private bathroom complete with cleaning supplies, table and television. It's designed for leisure and holiday tourism and it has all the necessary amenities for your comfort including wooden floors and rustic furniture. The hotel is in a perfect spot as it's located in the city walls, near the Santa Teresa House Museum and other points of interest such as the Passeig del Rastro and the Tower of Gizmanes.
This is the hotel we always chose when we come to Avila. Because of it's location (right in the center), it's price and the service of it's staff. Just a short walk from the main monuments and also many of the rooms have an amazing view of the ramparts and the cathedral of Avila. By the way, if you want to stay more than a week, some rooms come with their own kitchen!. Here I posted a picture of the great view we had from the hotel room. It looks around the side of the cathedral and, looking up, we had a partial view of the interior of the wall. Do not miss out on this wonderful city!.
Last summer after returning from vacation, as fate would have it, I broke my car on the A-6, and as there was no way to fix it within two days, my roadside assistance diverted us to Avila, the nearest town and we booked into the Hotel Don Carmelo, where we received better treatment than you would expect, the hotel has 3 stars but could have more, has all the amenities you may need, and also recommended places to eat good steak, like the Meson the Sun and the Restaurant Sanjuaniego. The walls are impressive, wonderful at night throughout the City, and during the day tapas is included in the prices of the drinks and is enough to recommend it to anyone. Do not fail to visit AVILA. (In September said they had a medieval market the first weekend.) We went in August. Antonio (Murcia)
It's a magnificent Cottage in Valle del Tiétar, crowned by the Sierra de Gredos. It has more than 7 hectares of land where kids can run wild, enjoy a bike ride and play tennis or bocce. In summer you can enjoy the pool. The customer service is exquisite.
We stayed at this hotel last weekend. It is a beautifully restored house with very modern facilities. The location is unbeatable, next to the city walls in the historic center of town. Our room had scenic valley views. Beautiful. It offers free parking nearby. The staff are very friendly and professional and made our stay the best that we have had in this city. The restaurant, which is above the hotel, is good value for money and I had the best steak I've ever eaten. They offer a varied menu with a fusion of traditional and modern dishes. I recommend it.
It's a luxury 5 star golf and spa resort. It offers the opportunity to relax in a cool and serene environment in direct contact with nature. The hotel offers a range of possibilities to enjoy sport, and golf is just one of them. All rooms are equipped and most have views overlooking the golf course.
The Hotel is in a prime location just a 2 minute drive from the historic center of Ávila, and a different view of the walls, from the hotel. Form the hotel it is only 800m to the train station, ideal for a city break, also it has free outdoor parking for customers who prefer to go on their own cars. The hotel was renovated recently, with 140 fully equipped rooms, and adapted. Note that near the hotel can enjoy the four poles monument and the city walls
