While it is quite far from downtown, the hotel offers a lot of amenities, big roos and a breakfast buffet that really is worth its 5 star rating. The rooms are distributed like bungalows and are very big, they have coffee or tea in the rooms also. The pool is very nice and you can choose between many restaurants inside. If it wasn´t for the distance from the center, it would be perfect.
The Middle East Hotel (Giza - Gizeh - Egypt) is situated on the Faisal Highway, Middle East Pyramids Hotel and is ideally located to explore the pyramids of Giza and Cairo, it is located in the center just minutes from Giza Pyramids . Most souvenir shops and several restaurant chains are in the Faisal Highway. With 80 medium sized rooms all with air conditioning, telephone, TV with satellite connection, minibar and hairdryer.
Cairo Palace Hotel stands in Imad el Din Street in the Downtown district. It is a central neighborhood, a bit old, but very safe, where you have everything at your fingertips, within a taxi journey that shouldn't cost more than 15 LE. Public transport can be a bit tricky to get the hang of, apart from the metro. This is an older hotel in a nineteenth century building, with an Asian feel. Everything is clean and well-maintained, and the rooms are air conditioned and non-smoking. You have a TV and private bathroom. It is a two star hotel with prices starting at 20 euros per night if you book online, or 45 in person. 45 euros seems a little expensive, there are better deals.
The African Hostel is in the Downtown neighborhood, the old center of Cairo, built in the 30's. It stands in an old building of several floors, but I think people live downstairs. There are several hotels in this area, which has a good reputation for travelers. As such, there is stiff competition, and here you have internet, 24-hour reception, currency exchange, a left luggage service for the day you check out ... and they can help organise your trips and your tickets to the sights. The price of a single room with shared bathroom is $ 13, 19 with private bath, double is between 18 and 22 dollars, the triple and quadruple between 24 and 32 dollars. The rooms are large with high ceilings with ceiling fans, typical of these old buildings.
The Mena House Oberoi Hotel is a luxurious palace in Giza, just in front of the entrance to the ancient site of Giza and the three pyramids. It's not my favourite place to stay because you can't take advantage of Cairo's nightlife, and taxis and transport get a bit complicated. But to spend a day or two there is ideal because you can reach the pyramids in the morning before the site gets filled with tourists. The hotel is a century and a half old. It's in a magnificent lush garden, and everything is classically decorated in English colonial style with a small oriental touch. It has several restaurants and bars inside. Oberoi is a hotel chain. The rooms cost 170 euros/night for a standard garden view and a small balcony. The large rooms cost 210 euros/night, but you can request a view of the pyramids!
It is the best way to visit Egypt and once you have decided to do it on a boat crossing the Nile one must choose the boat very well because there are many types of boats of all colors too. This one is fantastic. The Nile has so many boats that sometimes you must past 6 boats to get out of yours and arrive to the shore. The food is high quality and varied, the rooms are perfect and it doesn´t seem like you are on a boat. The service was a 10, I don´t think I could ask for more.
