Beaches in Negril
Negril Beach
To me, the best beach in Jamaica is Negril or Long Bay beach, which I think is the most beautiful and the longest on this Caribbean island. Negril Beach also has the island's best attractions, such as the two most crowded places: the bar [poi = 74421] Rick's Cafe [/ poi] and the restaurant [poi = 428271] Margaritaville [/ poi]. Like the rest of the beaches in Jamaica, it is washed by the Caribbean sea painted transparent blue with a fine white sand, but unlike the other beaches, this is where there is the most sand that stretches along the cliffs. The Jamaicans themselves say there are seven miles of beach and this area gives way to Seven Mile Beach. To the right of this beach there are a lot of hotels with direct access , like the nudist hotel [poi = 468591] Hotel SuperClubs Hedonism II [/ poi], Hotel Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa, or Riu Tropical Hotel Bay.
Beaches in Runaway Bay
Runaway Bay Beach
Runaway Bay Beach is on the north coast of Jamaica, in my opinion one of the best areas in the country. It is 68 miles from Montego Bay. This beach is one of the largest and longest in Jamaica, with fine sand and a clear blue sea, we must bear in mind that there is a lot of wind, making it the ideal place to practice water sports. Along the coast of Runaway Bay are several resorts such as SuperClubs Breezes Runaway Bay, the complex [poi = 72477] Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica [/ poi] or Hedonism III resort ( although the latter with a private nudist beach).
Beaches in Ocho Rios
Dunn's River Beach
The Dunn's River Beach is located at the foot of Dunn's River Falls. It is a spectacular setting, not only due to the turquoise blue water and fine white sand, but because of where it's located. This beach is at the mouth of Dunn's River Falls as it drains into sea, and it's completely surrounded by lush tropical vegetation (it's part of a National Park). From here, the view of the falls is spectacular and it's also the starting point to climb to Las Frills. At this beach, you can go for a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear water, rent a jet ski, or go for a spin on a catamaran or a glass-bottom boat to seeing right into the water. You have bathrooms and lockers, but no other amenities such as chairs or bars. Access is via wooden walkways and stairs from the entrance to the Dunn's River National Park (2 miles from Ocho Rios). You can also reach it by sea on a catamaran. There's an entrance fee of $15.
Beaches in Montego Bay
Half Moon Beach
Half Moon Beach is located in the north of the Caribbean island of Jamaica about 14 kilometers from the city of Montego Bay. This water bathes the famous beach, which gives its name to the 5 star Deluxe complex known as: Hotel Half Moon, A RockResort, the beach is about a mile long. The beach is composedof fine white sand, lapped by the Caribbean Sea with its clear blue waters. In addition to having some trees, there are shady areas where you are able to avoid the sweltering heat of Jamaica. In my case I loved the hotel and also that they put at our dispoal a kind of palm-leaf palapas istead of the usual loungers and parasols for us to be able to relax a little in the sun. Personally of the Caribbean places I've been to my favorite has been Punta Cana, as tourism in Jamaica is mainly American a big problem due to the language and the English character of the people which is not as nice or friendly as the oeople are in Punta Cana, Cuba or Mayan Riviera.
Beaches in Duncans
Fisherman's Beach
Before ending our trip to Jamaica, we spent a bit of time at the (Fisherman's Beach). It is located west of Silver Sands, the "posh area" of Duncans. Here the beach is private and available only to people who rent or buy the luxurious villas. While we were on the beach we saw some people riding horses along the seashore, this must have been something that came with the tourism. Fisherman's Beach is located below the main tourist area where there is a public beach, not too big, with no more "amenities" than a bar-snack bar, but with the charm of its Caribbean nature: finite beach and white sand, clear waters and warm turquoise blue.
