Beaches in Taganana
Playa de Benijo
(18)
These clean and not very frequented black volcanic sand beaches are located under the steep peaks of the Anaga range, in an area that is Natural Park. The landscape here is really impressive, with the lava peaks that emerge from the water. There are some nudist swimmers and a few people who camp there, even though it is not permitted to do so. There is also a small restaurant before the descent where you can grab a bite. You have to be careful because it is a beach with really strong currents.
Beaches in Puerto de la Cruz
Playa Jardin

It has become the reference beach of Puerto de la Cruz. At the beginning there were complaints, saying that the natural life and the area’s ecosystems would be destroyed forever…But it is a beach that everyone that goes to Puerto de la Cruz enjoys. Besides being a magnificent and clean black sand beach (the best one to get some sun and a great tan), it has all the necessary infrastructures to spend an unforgettable day: bars and restaurants, showers, changing booths, lifeguards, etc. The water is very clean, although you must be careful with the currents, since it is open to the North Atlantic. There is a lot of space in the nearby parking lots, although in the summer, like everywhere else, it’s not enough.

The Médano beach, better known as “Playa Grande”, and it is located at the end of the pedestrian area of El Médano, in front of Plaza El Médano. It is usually full of families and children in the left part, since it is close to hotels and rental apartments; it is also near the bus stops. To the right it is usually full of surfers and windsurfers, due to the wind.

This "beach" is a small cove located on the Paseo de San Telmo, between volcanic rocks. This give it its charm, as the rocks form small pools at low tide, where bathing has become a tradition. There was also a small jetty, so there is a breakwater, where people get to sunbathe (though it must be very uncomfortable to lie on a towel over a load of boulders) and there are steps leading down directly the sea. The sea itself is very clean and has the Blue Flag accreditation.

It is one of the favorite corners to dream, observing its magical landscape…It is located in the northeastern part of Tenerife and it is famous for its natural pools. The entire coast gives way to open sea, so there can be lots of changes in the tide, creating unique landscapes in beauty and color, especially at sunset. It is also famous for its lighthouse, which can disappear into one of the big waves that reach the coast when there is a heavy sea.
