I have attended this event for a few years and it is amazing! It's amazing how many people turn up to a sporting event like this. Every year I go to see my parents run the half marathon and it's great to see them achieve their goal. You see many people from many places, many of whom just come for fun and see this marvel, full of music, fun and joy.
What a coincidence! It turns out that the weekend we were in Laredo was the Tournament CEV Beach Volleyball, held on the beach. The tournament was on Wednesday, 23/07/09 and was chaired by the mayor of the city of Laredo, Santos Fernández Revolvo. The games began on Saturday 25/07/09, celebrating 26 double elimination matches and on Sunday 26/07/09 were the seminfinales and finals, which were televised. The match was Germany vs Brazil. The event was very popular, with 4 tiers available for spectators with a capacity for over 1,500 people. There were lots of cheerleaders and dancing which made a great atmosphere.
Gran Match is by far the best pool hall in Madrid. It's a place that emphasizes relaxing get-togethers among friends to shoot some pool, play poker, watch football on TV, or just hang out and have some drinks. While there are more centric pool halls in Madrid, they're also more expensive and a lot more crowded. Gran match has roughly 20-30 (or more) American and British billiards tables so there's always a place open.
They have a full-bar so you can grab a beer or even a snack while you play. It's open until about 3am on weekends and has a pretty good atmosphere after midnight. The have a section of tables where local poker fans bring chips and cards and set up to play quiet games among friends.
The table isn't expensive. We were playing for about 2.5-3 hours and the bill for the table and balls was around 20 euros. All in all, it's a really recommendable place!
This XXIII edition of 2010, Cangas de Onis Athletics Club and the Municipal Sports managed to bring together some 840 participants at the starting line, led by double World Marathon Champion Abel Antón who took part in the test as a more popular corridor for a distance of 21 Km which start with a slight slope and found at Km 8.7 with a tough climb to the Real Sitio de Covadonga where its midpoint, and start back to Cangas de Onis by the same route that was lighter this year thanks to the time change (18:00 h) we were provided with a bit of relief from the heat and humidity that enveloped us throughout the entire day. The test was also Spain Championship Half Marathon for Fire and Emergency Services. As every year Cangas de Onis was abuzz with runners and companions that show that sport is not necessary in order to revitalize Asturias. You can check out the pictures I left here, they are from the last two marathons. Here are other competitive sporting events: Leon Classic Half Marathon cyclist Covadonga Lakes
How could you leave me in Formentera?? This is the exact statement that the bird would have said if he could talk. This bird landed on my boat during the Denia - Formentera - Ibiza Ruta de la Sal Regatta. Absolutely fantastic!
This past weekend I went to the awards ceremony of the III of Spain Match Race Championship Women, at the Royal Yacht Club of the village of Pontevedra, in the Ria de Arosa. The ceremony was attended by many people interested in sailing, as well as members of the mayor and council of Pontevedra province. The media and Sasa attended as well, as a reporter. These are the pictures I took and would like to share with you, the fans.
