In late September, I embarked on a journey to the low, medium and high Atlas Mountains and the Moroccan desert where I passed the old Dakar. One of the stops was the Kasbah Ouzina, in the middle of nowhere. It seems amazing how people adapt to what nature offers. The guys in charge are super helpful and friendly. With virtually nothing, they offered everything. Near this Kasbah is a village so do not forget to bring pencils and candy this trip. For the places where the 4x4 transit it seems that nobody lives except for kids running out to talk to you and sell you something, if only exchange for a pencil. They have nothing because there is nothing. The site is great, friendly, full of camaraderie and with lovely food with a flavor of traditional characteristic culture. Being in the desert, the light works with a generator and water is scarce so do not waste the resources they offer. Just behind the Kasbah are part of the dunes of Morocco and a few kilometers in sight can see the border with Algeria and all the controls provided by this country to avoid "intruders". If you go out there, say hello to Moha from me.

Hello Traveler: I am glad to see that someone has already created an entry on this blog about hostel La Source. I discovered it on my last trip and both my wife and I are in love with the hostel and everyone who works there, they made us feel as if we had been there forever. The food is exquisite, the rooms comfortable, welcoming, clean and there is always hot water and the location of the place is magical. When you open the door you can see the dunes of Erg Chebbi ... It's awesome. And at night, lying down, listening to the tam tam and singing traditional songs ... It is one of the best memories I have from my last trip. Furthermore, since the hostel organized tours and excursions. We did one with Hassan by the former head of the Paris-Dakar ... And I loved it! Thanks for creating this blog. Regards

This is a great adventure, live it!
Good hostel close to the Merzouga dunes. Very big for my whole family. My good friend Ahmed will welcome you with all his enthusiasm. He is not going to bore you! He will prepare a super fun outing with your 4x4 through dunes! By the way, he drives fantastically well. he is an expert. The Berber cuisine is quality, and its staff is very attentive. Do not hesitate to go if you can. I recommend it!
This riad is just steps from the Hedim square behind the walls of the Medina and Dar Jamai Museum and the Medersa Bou Inania. The building has been owned by the same family since the 17th century. The hotel has been restored with great decorative detail, respecting the meknazí tradition. The center of the hotel is the courtyard, a place where guests are welcomed with a traditional tea with mint. It also serves breakfast and lunch as the hotel has a restaurant with homemade food. As usual, what is most striking is the careful detail that has decorated the hotel and the friendliness of the owners.
You can't expect to find a hotel with any "stars" to speak of when you're traveling through atlas in Morocco, but you can expect kindness, and a sense of "I am at home but little more uncomfortable and hotter" that makes you forget any discomfort and only remember the great and wonderful memories of your stay in this hotel. I recommend it as the only hotel in town (I think) because the site is great to relax and enjoy the peace.

A place to go back to nature, in search of the things you can't find in the city ... go alone, go with your partner, with your family, your friends ... the desert will inspire anyone who comes here, especially if you're lucky enough to spend a night sleeping outdoors wishing on all the shooting stars that fill the sky. An experience that everyone should try before they die.
A spectacular hotel, arguably the best of our trip through southern Morocco. It is literallly right in the dunes, and to get there you'll have to take a path of earth and stones that are sent bouncing upwards along with your car. Luckily it's only 1 km along the road to the door of the Kasbah, where you park your car just 15 metres from the dunes. The Kasbah is very large, full of spacious common areas, gardens, benches, gazebos, a beautiful pool ... and hallways lined with rooms. The rooms are huge, with a king-sized bed, refrigerator, bathroom, parlour and so much space. The breakfast buffet is very good, and so are the dinners offered by the hotel. The friendly staff will make you feel right at home, even out here in the desert! They will help you with everything, from hiring camel trips to spending the night in a bivouac. Everything in the Kasbah is perfect, but the location is the absolute highlight. A great option if you want to enjoy the Erg Chebbi dunes while also experiencing exceptional service.
This Riad was just like being at home, with great facilities and a lovely pool for the warm nights, or a fireplace for winter ... the rooms are large, clean and comfortable, but to me nothing is better than the people who work there. Whatever you need, they're happy to help. They'll help you get to and from the airport and arrange guided trips. They also have some tents, so you can arrange a camel ride, and the chance to sleep out on the dunes. 10/10.
