    Youth Hostels in Christchurch
    Base Christchurch Hostel
I spent my first two nights in Christchurch here as the other hostels were full. My flight arrived a midnight, and the Base has a 24-hour reception. Base Hostels are known throughout Australia and New Zealand for their nightlife, as they all have their own bar. The atmosphere is young and crazy. The best thing about this hotel is its location, 10 metres from the Cathedral and 50 from the InterCity bus stop. I'd recommend it only if you're a party lover and under 25.

    YHA Wanaka, Purple Cow Hostel
Of the two YHA in Wanaka, this is the most popular, and in winter many skiers come because there are lockers in the rooms for boots and skis. In summer it is very nice because it is close to the lake, and there are several terraces with great views.

    Youth Hostels in Akaroa
    Chez la Mer Backpackers
This hostel is in a family home and it is an extraordinary place. The awesome atmosphere in this house so nice, just 20 meters from the sea, to or from the supermarket and the office of tourism. The owners are great people, they were travelers around the world when they were young. Sarah the owner is a very nice woman as well. You can not pay by credit card. The place is extremely cozy, with terrace, hammock, simple socializing as many people traveling alone here. My bedroom had 5 available bed. I highly recommended place for both travelers and couples traveling alone. They also have rooms with two beds or a king-size bed. My bedroom and was almost 25 NZ dollars, about 12 euros and a person.
    Youth Hostels in Kaikoura
    YHA Kaikoura
As a hostel, it might perhaps not be the best YHA in New Zealand, as it is a bit small. However, it does enjoy an excellent location, just a few meters away from the sea with great views of the mountains, and is a 20 minute walk to see a colony of seals and 10 minutes from the town center.

    Hotels in Waikaretu
    Nikau Cafe hotel
Anne and Phillip Woodward, are the second generation of farmers that can be found in an area that did not begin to develop until the 40s of last century. Phillip, like his parents and now her daughter (global recordwoman), had worked for many years shearing sheep, and as a result he could, with his wife Anne, purchase acres of an inhabited paradise. Located in the valley of Waikaretu, the Woodward are the owners and managers of Nikau coffee (March 15, 2010 at its second birthday), a magnificent coffee-hostel which looks like an oasis in the middle of the vast region. They have rooms for six people in total with a double and 4 bunk beds, where the prices range between 30 and 50 dollars per person. In one of the cafés you can taste the excellent and simple cuisine of Anne, which is done using produce from her garden of the neighborhood. In some of them from meats offered (www.Pinnaclelamb.Com) or olive oil (Whangape grove). There is no public transport to be able to get to the region, so it is essential The Woodward live a few meters, so the hostel cafe is open every day of the year. It is advisable to book in advance, and keep in mind that you must pay in cash. If one has not thought to bring cash, this is not a problem. In New Zealand the budget honesty is a value in all people, so you can pay days later at any bank doing a transfer, or leaving the money in the house of one of the friends of the Woodward in any other city or town .

    Hone Heke Lodge
In Kerikeri is where you will find this backpackers Lodge that is run by an English couple. The site is fun and it is 30 Euros/night. The couple helps and advises young people from other countries to organize their "WORK HOLIDAYS" -working vacation to be maintained for their holidays. They are doing a very good job so if anyone has plans to travel to New Zealand and work to survive, they will make things easier.

This is one of New Zealand's best hostels, with a very attentive staff, completely devoted to giving you the best service even though you only paid 10 €. It offers two full serviced floors with 2 kitchens, 2 laundry rooms, 2 living rooms, and it's just a short walk from the heart of Christchurch and the Cathedral.
    Hotels in Christchurch
    Tulsi Restaurant hotel
The Tulsi is one of the many Indian restaurants in Christchurch, but it is different because it has modern and elegant décor and amazing prices at noon. You can order a curry with rice and naan from 4 €. It is in the center of the city, next to the most popular bars and clubs, and close to the YAG. The menu has a wide variety of curries, I recommend the chicken with mango, and the Tikka Masala is a house specialty. The Lassi is also highly recommended.
    Hotels in Franz Josef
    YHA Franz Josef Glacier hotel
Franz Josef has grown from a small mountain town, near the eponymous glacier, to a place with the most adventure activities in New Zealand. The hostel is on the edge of the forest and has a mountain cabin style with fireplace, sauna access, a spacious living room and 2 kitchens. Also, it's a stop for all buses and transportation services that go through Franz Josef.
    Motels in Kerikeri
    Cabinz Motel
In a cline over Paihia Bay, there are small log cabins for 4 people, with well-equipped kitchenette and a divine terrace amidst a pine forest overlooking the bay. The owners seem like very nice people and for 50 euros a night, a bargain for both comfort in one of the most touristic cities of New Zealand. Whether you go in December and January, bookings here is best during high season.
    Campsites in Whangarei
    Whangaroa Harbour Holliday Park
Another tough day on the bike, and it was beginning to hurt, so we decided to stop at the next campsite. Luckily for us it was just 3 km away and it was the Whangarei Harbour Camp Holliday, yeah, here campsites are called Holliday Park. The owner Daves, greeted us and offered the best place (considering it was empty), the fact is that the camp has a kitchen, toilet, shower, dryer, washing machine and heating for just $ 20 (10 €), all inclusive. Best of all is the place because Whangaroa Harbour is but a port with 3 bars 1 hotel and plenty of holiday. The view from this place is paradise and fishermen will have port Maori legends while having a beer at the port club, where you can also eat half a dozen oysters for 5 €. Daves also gave us a small tour to St. Paul's, the highest point from where currencies entire peninsula green islands with crystal clear water. It is a mix between romantic and relaxing. Curiously, we were told that the Spice Girls were brought up here.
    Hotels in Whangarei
    YHA Whangarei hotel
Although it's a bit outside the city center, about a 20 minutes walk including climbing a hill, it's a very nice hostel, with free coffee and tea all day, very clean and not too many rooms. The outdoor area has a barbecue and great views of the city.
    Youth Hostels in Paihia
    YHA Bay of Islands Paihia
Just 100 meters from the beach, it costs about 13 € for a bedroom, and is housed in a 2 story exomplex of wood that is nice. It is immaculately clean and the owner is very friendly, with a lively atmosphere.
